Ceremony is a basic human instinct. Rites of passages or thresholds in your life are inevitable.

Just like we need water, food, love and shelter for human survival, we also need ceremonies and rituals to survive as they create a sense of belonging within us, which is a need deeply embedded in our DNA and critical for survival. Ceremonies remind us that there is something greater than we are able to perceive. They create an awe of life and the universe and help us understand paradigms of unity, connection, continuity, and devotion. Ceremony has the potential to connect us to the divine, to that which is incomprehensible to our minds.

Creating meaning and beauty from the major transition points or ‘thresholds’ in a human life is essential to our holistic health and well-being. It is this tending of the soul and of our life story that we have collectively forgotten. Sometimes we need an experienced guide to walk us through these times and help us create a meaningful marker, outside of our normal busy lives, that will allow us to more fully metabolize the opportunities for profound growth that thresholds offer us. Parts of this essential soul tending is meant to be done solo. Often, when we are in the liminal phase of a transitional threshold in our lives, we feel lost, disoriented, or our perspective is limited. As a guide, I merely help you to remember your way home and to help you make meaning from the most challenging moments of life.

Thresholds can be any of the following but not limited to:

  • honoring or grieving the death or impending death of a loved one

  •  honoring or grieving the end of a significant relationship or marriage

  • celebrating a mother-to-be or a new mother/family

  • honoring and welcoming a newborn

  • honoring and grieving a pregnancy loss

  • celebrating the start of menses / coming of age

  • honoring the end of menses/beginning of menopause

  • women entering their Wisdom Keeper time (anytime after 60)

  • celebrating a significant birthday

  • a career change

  • preparing for marriage

  • a new chapter of life where old parts of you are dying and new parts are emerging

The intention is always different; it may be to let go, to grieve, to pay respects and honor, to celebrate, or to invite in transformation or healing.
